At Bébé Bru, the health and safety of mama and baby are at the forefront of everything we do. Behind that exacting process is operations manager Tyler Stumbo, a passionate food scientist who formerly worked in quality control and food manufacturing for both Pepsi and Wheat Montana.
A new papa himself, Stumbo says he takes a lot of pride in what he and his team have accomplished and that when it comes to safety, “the proof is in the science.” Stumbo recently shared more about the Bébé Bru process and a few things he would want curious customers to know.
Bébé Bru’s streamlined process is designed so that every mother’s milk is processed completely on its own. In our facility, your milk will never even touch a bag containing another mama’s milk. Stumbo adds that in between each run, absolutely everything, from countertops to equipment, is cleaned separately and that he and his team have very strict distribution protocols so that processing is carried out in the safest way possible.
Stumbo says he wants moms to know that he and the Bébé Bru crew take the safety of their process and product extremely seriously. He adds that at Bébé Bru, everyone is very aware of how much time and effort it takes for mamas to pump and that they have great respect for the time it takes to produce enough milk to be freeze-dried in the first place.
While he could certainly go on about “the joy of freeze drying,” maybe the best evidence is that Stumbo has used freeze-dried Bébé Bru milk from his partner with his own baby multiple times. “Food safety is just my number one, you know, that’s like my bread and butter, that’s like, my passion in life is keeping food safe,” Stumbo says.
